Nigeria Star Davido congratulates Kenya’s Ruto as Supreme Court upholds election

Nigerian Super star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has congratulated Kenya’s president-elect William Ruto, on Monday as Supreme Court upheld the presidential election result.

Wakadaily Newspaper reported that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), chairman Wafula Chebukati said Ruto had won almost 7.18 million votes (50.49 percent) against 6.94 million (48.85 percent for his rival Raila Odinga in the August 9 vote. Ruto led a tight presidential race against opposition a former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.”

The results were, however, rejected by Odinga who challenged it in court saying the votes were manipulated in favour of Mr Ruto.

Supreme Court verdict

The Kenyan Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court, Martha Koome declared the judgment on Monday that Ruto remains the President-elect.

“The ruling came three days after arguments were heard from lawyers representing the two main candidates and rival camps of election commissioners.

However, Koome, in her ruling today, said, “The petitioners did not provide a water-tight case against the election results.”

Shortly after the ruling, Davido through his official Twitter page to congratulate Ruto.

He wrote, “Congratulations to Dr William Samoei Ruto on being declared 5th President of the Republic of #Kenya @WilliamsRuto. Also, Congratulations to the people of Kenya! DEMOCRACY WINS AGAIN.”

Ruto wrote few hours after the ruling, “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” — Mark 10:27.
